Making Christmas decorations for the tabel with locally collected treasures from nature and the forrest is a great Danish Christmas tradition.
I have been making these decorations all my life – at every Christmas just like everyone else in Denmark does. It’s something we learn from early childhood. It is something that I am very happy and proud to teach creatives in my new home country, – hoping it might become a Christmas tradition in a few Australian home.
In Denmark this kind of decoration is usually made for the first Day of December. It’s made around another Danish Christmas tradition – The Calendar Light. The Calendar Light is used to count down the days to Christmas Eve by lighting this candle every day – burning away the number whilst trying not to burn it too far down.
In this workshop we will be making these table decorations as centrepieces for the Christmas table – or as a lovely decoration on any table in your home. Each participant will produce a couple of decorations of their own design.
Al materials are included in the price, but you are more than welcome to bring some of your own materials that you might like to use. This could be dried flower or branches – anything really collected from your garden or the nature around you.
