‘The Winter Dialogue’ paintings are a series of works on paper and canvas painted with acrylic paint and added layers of fabric and paper, sand and medium for texture.
Kept in black, white and yellow it challenged me to focus on shape, form and texture.
They were painted during 2015 and the last one was finished in 2016.
All up, there are 20 small works on paper and 11 works on stretched canvas.
The inspiration happened both before and during the actual painting of these artworks.
First, it was an inner dialogue I had with myself whilst grieving over the loss of 2 beautiful souls close to me – to cancer. Then as the season changed to winter, the frost and whiteness of the winter mornings inspired me to continue down this path.
It has been quiet a journey painting these – but a very comforting and beautiful one.
This painting is from that series.
