I paid a visit to the DesignMuseum Denmark in Copenhagen to see the exhibition ‘Just one good chair’ – a show of Hans J Wegners chairs. An amazing experience.
According to the exhibition booklet Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007) furniture paved the way for the international breakthrough of Danish Design in the years following World War II. In 1949 he designed what has become known as the perfect chair, – and he kept at it, creating more than 500 chairs.
This exhibition showed examples of furniture designs, drafts, models and some wonderful huge Black and White posters.
Love this chair.
And to my family back home in Australia – here’s a familiar chair 🙂
A glimpse into the world of a designer home of the 1950s.
They knew how to make ads back then ! (…just LOVE the hat)
